Hi folks,
Anyone know the voltage need to charge the battery for these units on the bench ? I would like to fully charge the battery but I think there is a defective charging circuit in the laptop mobo. SO, I can prove this by charging the battery OUT of the unit and then see if powers up. And to answer 2 questions right off. 1) No, the external charger does not allow the unit to power up and yes, I tried another known good charger. 2) I do not have anohter Inspiron laptop to charge the battery in. If anyone knows the correct pins and the voltages for charging, I'd sure apprecite those details.

For my Gateway, I had to find an "external battery charger". Trying to build one is a lost cause. I opened an old battery and it has four seperate charging circuits, regulated by a circuit board with 3 IC's and other parts to set different charging rates. I found my charger on E-Bay.
