I apologize for asking this since I know it's been answered before, but how do you denote a line break in the QBE grid? I want to update a memo field (main.notes) to: main.notes&<line break>&others.ammount.

Thanks,

Sam

Morning

Access has a constant/intrinsic function( i've seen it called both on these pages) VBCRLF

visual basic carriage return line feed

alternatively there is Chr$(13) & chr$(10) which are the characters VBCRLF is sending

so main.notes& Chr$(13) & chr$(10) & others.ammount
will work as well.

Just so you have both as an option in future

regards

jo

PS just for my peace of mind do a check on the length of the strings returned and do a check over 255 chars as I have vague memories from many moons ago of getting burned with memo fields losing data when manipulating in queries.

Jo,

It worked perfectly. I tried using Chr$(13) & chr$(10) with a field with 252 characters and added another 10 without losing any data. Thanks a lot.
