I am using backup exec 8.6. All was working wonderfully until Thursday nite. I get this message:

Please insert overwritable media into the robotic library using the import command.

Overwritable media includes scratch, blank, and recyclable media. Please note that depending on the current Media Overwrite Protection setting, imported and allocated media may be overwritable as well. Consult the online help for more information on overwritable media.

I have followed everything in this forum to try and fix it, other than rebooting the backup server, which contains other applications.

Is it possible that W2K Service Paks can create these messages. I'm desperate. Veritas Website is useless to me and I have found more info here, than anywhere.

thanks!

Have you introduced new media into the system ?

If so have you done an inventory and included it in the correct media sets. ?

Hope this helps

no, I haven't done anything like that. My backups were running fine until we got that lovegate virus. The backups ran fine then, however, it was trying to open the files but access was denied. The only thing different was I removed the selections to the folders that it was trying to backup with the quarantined virus. I was told a security patch was installed, the night in question, but I don't know if this affected the veritas software. I'm at my wits end.

try to export all your cartridge and re-import them,
sometime BE lost his backup settings

Backup Exec sucks...but like me you have to deal with it!

k, thanks. Actually, I had nothing but good results with it...so far. :) But things can always change.
