Hi,
I was trying to create a group on a report instance. I don't want current data. I want to keep the old data but want to see the report in different way. I was trying to insert a group. But after inserting a group I can see the the report is refresing and getting recent data. But I want the same saved data. Is there anyway?

Thanks,
RB

If your database has a 'date stamp', you can look at old data and new data together. Otherwise no.

What you can do is export the old data to Excel or Word or PDF, allowing some sort of comparison.

I have already created PDF and EXcel file but user wants to see the data in different way. I guess there is no way.

I add groups to reports with saved data all of the time. Is the field you are grouping on already in the report? If not, then it will need to refresh to get that field.

If the field is on the report it might be that CR is generating new SQL with an "order by". One way to prevent new SQL is to write a formula to use as your group field and then group on the formula.

I am not using the field in the report. I tried making group with report field it was working fine. But user want a drill down with a field which is not a report field.

If the field wasn't used anywhere in the original report then you are stuck. The saved data only saves the fields being used. Adding that field to the report now, as a group field, will require a refresh.
