Have a netware 5.0 server running sp6a
How easy is it to do a in place upgrade.

Also does it conver the volumes to nss automatically

Many thanks

If I were you I would practice in a lab first and make sure you understand all the wrinkles before you do it live.

Do you have enough free disk space to convert the volumes? You need at least as much free as your largest traditional volume.

havent done this for a long time and tend to prefer clean builds or use the mig wizard to new hardware

i beleive it's fairly manual - and you have to run the vcu
as sstoppel says you need space - also be weary - traditionals were compressed by default
the tendancy with nss is to leave it uncompressed
so you need some serious space - and remeber you backups - ie you cannot restore compressed data to an uncompressed volume
unless you put the wee tick on arcserve that uncompresses during backup or something like that

I wouldn't recommend this if you have little or no experience with Upgrades. A much safer bet is to do a Migration to new hardware.

I also don't like the trad to nss conversion tool. it's not easy to use and in most cases, your traditional volumes are already allocating all of your drive space so it won't work anyway.
