I have 4 PC's, 3 with 98SE and the latest with XP. They are all interlinked via a Linksys hub on our LAN in our home. The question is can I use the software that came with the latest PC and instal XP on the other 3 PC's so all are the same OS? And if not, why not?

Howdy:

In a nutshell, NO !!!

XP must be activated and can ONLY be installed and activated on one system at a time. So, one XP, 1 installed system.

If you try to install it on another system, it will work for a brief period of time and then stop.. It will tell you that you need to activate XP.. When you try, either Microsoft will not allow the activation because you have already activated it or, will allow you to make the change to the new system and then disable the activation key on the old system.

End result... if you want XP on the other systems, you are going to have to buy it !!

Please don't ask us how to hack around it as we won't help you there at all !!
