Madsworld:
FYI, The DHS system is a very good product and was a great to sell around 1997 & 98 as Vodavi had great pricing on "Package Deals". (Vodavi does the same thing with the STS system these days). The limitations with the DHS came when adding things like Caller ID as it required an external box and wasn't built into the system and Voicemail had to be integrated through analog ports using In-band integration. Vodavi has a small voice processing platform up to 8 ports called the Dispatch that works very well with the DHS and Dispatch was upgraded to the Digital Dispatch but it doesn't interface with the DHS as far as I know. Anyway, by the time you had to purchase all of the "Add-ons" it was just as cost effective to go with the Nortel Norstar or Lucent product. The good thing about the DHS is that it works well, the telephones are made well and I rarely have a telephone go out and the system is reliable. Now that these systems are getting some age on them one problem that has surfaced is the battery that holds the system programming (RAM memory)has a 5 year life cycle and I have had a few systems to lose power and the memory was erased and the system had to be reprogrammed. The memory capacitor (Battery) can be replaced (not too difficult to do) for less than $10.00. This is a little history and my experience with this product that I hope helps you and increases your confidence in the DHS. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns with the system.
