Hi All,
I recently bought a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1300 TV card for my PC, running Win XP Pro. The TV card is the XP Media Center edition, though it runs very nicely on XP Pro. However, the remote control that comes with it is also compatible with Media Center and when plugged in is detected as 'eHome Infrared Device' (or words to that effect). The problem is it prompts me for the drivers, yet I don't have any as, from what I have read, they come with Media Center, so get installed automatically.

Does anyone know where I could get the drivers from, as I've not really had much joy on the MS site. I don't have a copy of Media Center to try and extract them from, and I'm led to believe MC is built on XP so they drivers should work. Anyone have any experience of this or ideas on how I might get it working?

Thanks a lot in advance!
Rob

I could not find this card at the Hauppage site...

If it is one designed specifically for MCE then the drivers might be linked to this interface only.

They have other cards for XP and have the drivers for that interface.

So depending on what you card is intended to support, the remote(drivers) may or mat not work in XP only environment

Can't you get them from the Hauppauge site?

Hi, thanks for your replies. I've thoroughly searched the Hauppauge site and it doesn't have drivers for the remote, as they are by Microsoft and only included in Media Center. However, after a good deal of searching I found a solution. for anyone else interested: Put in your XP Pro CD, and search it for 'irbus*' which should bring up either irbus.sys and irbus.inf, or their compressed versions irbus.sy_ and irbus.in_. If the latter, run expand at the dos prompt, but navigatign to the directory where you copied the files and running 'expand irbus.in_ dump' assuming you've created a sub directory called dump in the folder. Do that for both files, then alter the file extentions of the files in the dump folder from sy_ to sys and in_ to inf.

Plug in the remote receiver, and when the Add New Hardware wizard kicks in point it to the dump folder. There may be a few other prompts to add some other drivers, but allow it to connect to the internet and it'll hopefull install them all fine. Hope that helps anyone else who's having the same prob.

Cheers,
Rob

Thank You for Posting You work around.

I am sure that this wil assist other with a similar problem.

The support for MCE is almost non existant, I suppose this is due to it being OEM at the start. And there was/is some convention to having much of this only supported in MCE.

Again Thanks.
