I am using Exchange 5.5 on NT Server with ArcservIt 6.61 backup.

A user lost subfolders in his mailbox. I followed Microsoft instructions to restore the Information Store to a recovery server. However, when I attempt to start the IS service an error is returned.

'The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service returned server specific error 3355443730'

Looking through the event viewer I see references to Log File damage.

Does this mean Exchange cannot play back appropriate log files in order to start IS? If so, does anyone know of a way to fix this problem so I can get IS working and restore the lost mail folders.

Thanks

I have a faq .. if you want... faq10-2260 It works .. I've done it a dozen times..

The OS and Exchange Service packs on the backup server have to be the same as the original server. For instance, if you have not run the same Exchange SP on the recovery server the IS service will not start after you restore the IS.

You can do a recovery on a different OS ... I've done it.. but the Exchange installation has to be identical, you're right..

Same SP's, same connectors, same add-ins, same backup s/w, same anti-virus s/w (if you have it), everything has to be identical to the original Exchange installation.

I mention that in my FAQ. Alshrim
