I have asked this question in several other forums and as yet have received no responses, so I thought I would try one more time.

I am running XP Pro with 512mb DDR Ram and have installed sp2. I do not use the XP firewall as I have Nortons Personal Firewall installed and also run Symantec's Systemworks for the antivirus.

My objective is to completely turn off the IE popup after sp2 was installed. I have another popup stopper that I prefer. What is happening is that on certain webpages and when I am using or making anfy applets on my pc, the Information Bar comes up and blocks things that I want to open.

I followed the instructions to disable the Information Bar by going to Tools and clicking Pop-up Blocker Settings and taking the check out of the box for "Show Information Bar when a pop-up is blocked". I then turned off the Pop-up blocker totally.

To be blunt, it is like I have done nothing as far as the Information Bar is concerned. It still blocks and appears when pop-ups are blocked. Is there anyway to completely disable this function?

Thank you

Pop-ups are only a part of the Information Bar feature. Several other issues can force the Information Bar:

. ActiveX Installs
. Non-user initiated downloads
. ActiveX blocking controls
. Local Machine Lockdown

In your post you did not indicate what was the cause for the Information Bar displaying. A click on the bar should show the reason for the display.

For ActiveX controls, that feature set is determined by your choice in Internet Options, Security, Internet Zone - Custom level.

For the Lock Machine Lockdown feature, use regedit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\
Key: FEATURE_LocalMachine_Lockdown
Type: REG_DWORD - 0 disables LMZ lock-down.
