Hi there, I am confused. I have upgraded (against my better judgement) to SP2, and discovered the information bar. Which is a nightmare.

If I browse to an internet site with an ActiveX script (that I wrote), it ignores it, yet when I try to edit the self same site, only on my local machine, the local version gets blocked with the following message:

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options..."

I cannot turn the bloody thing off. Somebody Please put me out of my misery and tell me why an online copy of the site is affected differently to a local copy, and how to TURN OFF THE DAMN BAR.

Thanks :)

By the way, the link I provided above was only for the Web site developer or user who did not want to use SP2 to begin with.

There are other sites with the same advice and without the editorial comments, which I find instructive and amusing.

Best wishes to all,
Bill Castner

bcastner, THANKYOU SO MUCH, I have now managed to disable the problem.
