Dear All,

I am using Arc Serve 2000 as backup software. We have one DLT 4000 and one DDS VS-80 Tape Drive.

I wanna know is that is we buy a new 40/80 DLT Cartridge, we know that it is backup compatible with DLT 4000. I have seen that one i have formatted the new media on DLT 4000, it will be always in Read Only mode in the DDS VS-80.

Is there any way that I can make that 40/80 DLT tape avaible for Read/Write on DDS VS-80?

Noted: I tried the erase option on DLT 4000 but it is till showing write protected in DDS VS-80

You'll probably have to degauss them (on a strong degausser, not the type for doing video tapes etc). The company we use for offsite backup storage offers this service as well (which we use), costs about £5 per tape (a rip-off but cheaper than £20 for a new one).
