I've just been asked by upper mgmt. to start looking into what it would take to write an rfp to do a forklift upgrade of our current phone setup. We currently have multiple sites all connected by private fiber between them. One site is running a Nortel Meridian Opt. 11c and the other sites are either just PSTN lines directly to a phone or have a Small Panasonic PBX. Were a cisco shop for all our network gear and our guys know IOS pretty well so were thinking of going Cisco VOIP. Does anyone know of any good sites that would have more info about the cisco products, been reseaching there site for a few days now and am starting to get a feel but still need more info. Also does anyone know what all I should be putting into the RFP so that it is as complete as possible. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Chad

What type of information are you looking for? Design, tech specs, matrix and so on. You are looking at a migration plan here. Before you start anything I would recommend doing a survey of your network. Also make a list of the features you will need to accommodate as far as you telephone system is concern.

This link will give you an idea of what to expect with each version of callmanager. It will also show you deployment ideas. There are a few Cisco press books out there, but you will find most of what you need in the website.

Your voice deployment will depend greatly on your current network design, so make sure you meet all the requirements to support a VOIP evironment.

Stay cool; it’s not over yet!

If you are looking for features and how to design your call manager infostructure the design guides will be your bible.

Your CISCO reseller would be another excellent source for information if they are IPTEL certified.

Good luck
