PROBLEM:
When I receive a PDF file that has been generated by InDesign I receive postscript errors when I try to print it.
1. From Adobe Acrobat V4 full version.
2. If I export it as a EPS file (Postscript 1 and 2) and open it up in QuarkXpress it wont print. Message from printer: (Elite XL 20/600) Postscript Error.
But when I get them to send me the raw InDesign file, I save it as an EPS and then Distill it with Acrobat 4 then export it as a Postscript 1 file then import it into QuarkXpress it prints!!
I'm sure it is the way that InDesign embeds the fonts into the PDF file that is causing the problems, I notice it saves them as a TYPE – Type 1 (CID), ENCODING – Identity-H, whereas Distilled through Acrobat it saves them as TYPE – Type 1 and ENCODING – either Windows or MacRoman.
Solution: Is the problem in my printer not understanding what Type 1(CID) is and can I upgrade my printer (ROM card) to overcome this problem.
Adobe Teks please explain.
