Running Netbackup 4.5 FP3
Master and media servers Windows 2000 Advanced server SPK4
SAN media Servers Windows 2000 Advanced server SPK3 Also running Lotus Domino R5.0.12.

The issue:
When backup fails to run on Domino server the transaction logs fill up the volume they reside on, crashing the notes server.
Backup schedule is currently a daily full using the Directive "Backup_Transaction_Logs" and
e:\lotus\dominino\data directory.

Notes depends on the backup software to mark the transaction log as archived and ready for deletion. If the backup fails, no logs are marked for deletion and Notes keeps creating more logs, as needed, until the disk becomes full and the server crashes.

Lotus recommends performing more frequent backups to reduce the chance of transaction logs growing beyond the volume size.
Running full backups of the Domino database and transaction logs takes approx 3 hours and we cannot run them during the day so this is not a practical solution for us.

Veritas recommends running a weekly full of the notes database and the transaction logs, then run a differential incremental every 12 hours to backup only the transaction logs w/o the domino database. This would greatly reduce tape consumption and backup window. This Just looking for some feedback from someone else who is doing this and if it works.
Thanks
