Hi,
I am having incremental backup problem and was looking for incremental backup solution thru the threads.
The following is what I found but dun quite understand it.
My question is :
What is meant by "schedules need to be in the same class?"
I dun seem to be able to find 'class' in netbackup.
Does full and incremental schedules needs to be in same policy? In my workplace, we are using netbackup datacentre 4.5, and using ndmp to backup our NAS. The full and cumulative incremental backup schedules are different polcies but it still works! But when I try to setup to backup Unix servers, the same incremental and full backup policies do not seem to work. So I am quite confuse how netbackup work out its incremental backup schedule; do they need to be in same policy or not?
Any help would be appreciated. Thx....cavie

The incremental and full backup schedules need to be in the same class. You can choose to overwrite the storage_unit in the schedule. You just need to create a storage_unit with 1 drive and assign it to the incremental schedule.

To clarify what comtec17 said - An incremental backup, when initiated looks for a couple of things:
First, is there a full backup withing the same policy? If no, proceed with a full backup. If yes, is the "Use Archive Bits" selected for an incremental? If yes, then proceed with an icremental.
If you have them in different policies your incremental will never check the archive bit and will always be a full backup.
If you open up the policy, open the schedules tab and open the incremental schedule, you can select to over ride the default storage unit/group for that backup.
