increase upload speed

Hi,

I've configured an Apache2 webserver on fedora Core 5 with php and mysql. Users need to upload files to the server. For the upload, i'm using cgi to show a progressbar while uploading.

Here is the problem: the upload speed is between 10kB/s and 11kB/s :s. Does anyone knows how I can increase the upload speed?
