I am currentlly using Networker 7.2.1, with an HP MSL5000 series tape library - sdlt320 drives.

I am trying to label new tapes. It will label some, but not others. It gives an eof: I/O error.

Right now I am having an 80% success rate.

Anyone have this problem?

I/O errors are normal as every backup software tries to read a label first. Of course, such does not exist on a new media. Usually this error is reported but will not harm.

Can you use NW's tapeexercise utility or another tool (which does not read a label) to check that this media is writeable at all?
