incoming ring/message waiting indicator both quit

Not having touched the system, one user said his message light doesn't come on any more and he doesn't get any calls. Swapped for a new phone, same thing. It gets dial tone, can make calls, can even answer the phone if he knows that someone is calling. Ringer on phone is on.

outed the extension, copied another extension to tn, same thing. could it be an analog port problem?

It's an analog line? Is there a ring generator associated with the shelf?

Could be the AN/MWL card port. If you configure the phone another port on the same shelf, does it work?

analog, I don't believe the system has a ring generator. Haven't tried moving ext to differnt tn.
