Hi everyone!

I am at a client site that is using public IP addressing, and we need to change the IP address of the exchange server. We tried this once before, all worked, except we could not receive mail from the outside. Sending to the outside worked fine.

The website had a similar issue in that no one could hit the web site. So, I had to put everything back to the way is was so we could work again.

I hope I am posting to the correct forum

Thanks for all and any help!

If you change the IP, you have to change the MX record [or redirection at the firewall] too; otherwise incoming mail still goes to the old IP.

xmsre,

Thanks for the quick reply. There is not a firewall in place yet. So, where would I find the MX record? We are running SBS 2000 server, and I cannot even access the Exchange Virtual Server settings. IIS will not open that up to me. Any Ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks!

To change the MX Record for incoming email, you would have to contact your ISP and they would make the change.
