Incoming Email Attachment Problem

I have an email server :

Windows NT 4.0 SP6
Exchange Server 5.5 SP4

I can send emails externally
I can send emails with attachments externally
I can receive emails from external sources.

But I cannot receive emails with attachments.

The dns records are hosted internally and they are configured with appropriate settings and correct MX records.

There is no restriction set up on the size of incoming or outgoing emails.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
No NDR is sent to the sender either.

Nothing appears in the exchange queue either.

Sometimes the mail with the attachment does get through but after a couple of days.

When the same user send to my other test email server it comes through without a problem.

Yet again any help would be appreciated.
 
Few questions
does this just happened recently ?
do you run any anti-virus software on the exchange server ?
what version of outlook are you running on your client computer which can not receive attachment ?
does this happen to other e-mail account on the same server ?
 

No, it has been going on for about a month.
Use Trend antivirus software.
Use Outlook 2000 on the client computer.
It affects all email users.
 
is this after trend installed ?
if so, how did you configure your trend ?
do you use trend's scan mail ?
 
Also what is your setting under IMS>General tab> message size set at ?
 
Do you have a mailsweeper in place that is doing some funky things to your attachments? Who's that girl! :)
