Hi,
Modular ICS Version 4.0 for the switch
Norstar VoiceMail for voice mail

I’ve got a problem with the Line Pool (I think). Somebody was messing over the weekend, and we lost all our voice mailboxes. I’ve had no difficulty recreating them, but I’ve discovered that incoming calls on our main line are not answered when one of us is on the phone with apparently either an incoming or outgoing call. No attendant, no busy signal, just rings on the line but not in the office.

There is supposed to be a pool of 4 lines with outgoing calls hunting from the last line. I know from recent exploration that the main line is supposed to be in Line Pool D and my phone is Line Pool A so I don’t tie up the main number. Same (Pool A) for all other users.

Looking at our Line Pool setups for the various extensions (with Feature **) I see that each extension is on Line Pool A, as desired. I don’t remember where I learned (or saw) that the main number is alone in Line Pool D, but I haven’t seen that again today. Also unexpected is that when I list the Line Assignments I see that all lines are unassigned. I have documented that our four phone lines were assigned to L001, L002, L003, and L004, but now those lines are unassigned. I know the four phone numbers. What programming do I need to do to solve this problem?

Thank you.

Go into programming for LINES, and program LIne001 as Public and Prime to your reception or main set. Program the other 3 lines as Pool A, and also Prime to the same main set.
In Terminals&Sets, assign the lines to Appear&Ring at the main set (Reception?) and to Appear&Ring or Appear Only at the other sets in the office.
In Terminals&Sets ensure all sets have access to Pool A, and are Prime to either Intercom or Pool A. And give Pool A an access code, usually '9'. With sets prime to Intercom users will need to dial '9' for an outside line, or press the line appearance.
Calls will ring on either one or all sets on incoming, and outgoing will be restricted to only lines 2-4.
There are other ways to set this up using Call Pickup and not having line appearances on the sets, but this way is fairly simple.
