I had an account set up in outlook 2003. I removed the account to setup another one since I needed to test a new account and outlook doesn't allow for more than 1 account. After removing the 2nd account, I wanted to go back to my 1st account. Upon returning, I see none of my inbox messages are there, but all of my tasks and sent items are! I did a windows xp system recovery, and the 2nd I start outlook, I see all my messages, but when I wait a few seconds, they all dissapear. How can i get the messages back?

sounds like they are there but are being hidden for some reason.

Try outlook /resetfolders

Also try OWA and see if you can see them there.

I tried OWA, and it shows my messages all gone as well.

If i can reimage, and then before open outlook, is there a way I can see if I have the messages locally cached that I can import the messages?

Don't think imaging will help - could be permissions issue that the emails are there but you don't have permission to see them?
