Periodically I am reciving messages into the Adminstrator MailBox that appear that somebody is attempting to relay messages through my server.

How can I stop this?

Can anybody provide a step by step for me.

Thanks!

JT

I had an open relay service.

I used earthlinks SMTP servcie for outgoing mail, and all is good now

If you are recieving these notifications then generally you do not have a problem, one box to mke you sure you have ticked is on the mail connector>routing tab>routing restrictions button>make sure the 'hosts that succesfully authenticate box is ticked, this will ensure that only accounts homed on the server can use its services.

User accounts then need to make sure they have the 'My server requires authentication' box checked in outlook

People can then try and relay but they won't be able to do it
