inbound mail delayed

Hi

I have a weird problem

Some email is taking a long time to get to our server. This doesnt happen to specific email or at specific times.

We have been in touch with mesagelabs and they have said the emails are producing the following log.

deferral: Sorry,_I_wasn't_able_to_establish_an_SMTP_connection._(#4.4.1)/

But they cant offer any ideas as to why this is happening.

Can anybody help.
