Hi,

I need some help on a problem that we have. We have currently exchange 5.5 running fine for sending and receiving emails. We are currently changing over to exchange 2003 in a front-end/backend solution.

We are also using surf control to remove spam emails.

We have set up the new exchange servers to listen on port 26 and surf control to listen on port 25.We can send outbound emails, this is not a problem, we can see the outbound emails going through and being delivered fine. The problem is when we are replying to the same email, we can see them being processed via surf control and then being delivered to our front-end server, then the emails just on the front-end server and not being passed to the back end server, they are sitting in the "Message pending submission" and we can't get them to be delivered to the backend server which has all the mailboxes.

Is there anything that we are missing or we can check, as the outbound emails are working fine, its just inbound and releasing the ones we have from this queue. We have tired to force connection, but this doesn't work.

Thanks

Are you going to continue using that product when you're migrated to 2003? 2003 does a pretty good job of handling spam with the features built into SP2. That would certainly simplify things.

We have managed to resolve this issue. We also have Groupshield on this server. We have turned off Transport Scanning on this as per instruction from McAfee and also stopped the Information store on the front-end server, this is a recommendation from Microsoft. After we turned the both back on, the emails were released.
Thanks
