Hello.

We have a cisco/nortel split setup and we use a cisco router as a wedge from pstn to our cs1000. Outboud calls go through one site and inbound calls go through another site. Inbound pstn calls will have no audio. We did a packet capture and received audio at the switch but it doesnt seem to get back the mgc card dsp.

Ideas?

\this only affects nortel phones. Cisco is working fine.

so you trace the span between the Cisco and the Nortel and you see nothing? Is this PRI where you can turn on messaging to see if the call is getting there? Or do you receive the call and the audio is not there? If the call reaches the Nortel and the audio is not established check the ports on the cisco to see if they are open to send out audio.

Also check the DSP's to make sure they are not disabled. I am assuming here you have IP sets that are having the issue, or is the interface on the Nortel a PRI connection and the set is a digital set?

Our MGC and/or PRI cards in the cs1000 might be failing. After many reboots of the cards, calls started coming through. Very strange. How could one diagnose these cards to see if they are failing? I could ping the PRI cards and the dsp's and the mgc and get a response while the issue was occurring.

Have you maybe go a clashing IP in there somewhere just a thought. Rather than ping during the fault try traceroute and then go to the last router and if its CISCO "show ip arp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" check the MAC address is what you are expecting.

That is great advice and we did test that the day we ran into issues. No conflicting IP's.

Patching upto date? We had one way issues down to CSP Loadware in MGC's, VTRK patches in Sig Servers, etc.

Hmmm. Never checked that. I am assuming it is not up to date. Let me look into that. Thanks again.
