Hello,

I just finished configuring the exchange 2003 aweek ago, but it's still not up yet. I can be able to send internally to the users in the same domain, but i can not be able to send out or receive mail from outside domain ex: xxx@yahoo.com.

I am hosting my mail server at home using ISP with dymanic IP address. It took me awhile to realize that my ISP is blocking port 25. I do understand that SMTP using port 25 to sending outbounce mail, but the question is that I should be able to receive inbounce mail without a problem, correct?

Is my assumsion correct? if not, please prefer me to the url or walk me through where should i look for a problem? and is there a way that you can steak or using different port for SMTP instead of port 25?
thanks so much in advance.
Cheers,

For inbound mail to work, your mail server must be registered in DNS so that outside servers can locate it. Having a dynamic IP address makes that harder, though it can be done. Dyndns.org is one possibility. They also have a service called MailHop that might help with your port 25 issues.

As an aside, the terms of service of a lot of ISPs ban running servers on your home network if that server will deliver content to the Internet (Web server, mail server, FTP server, etc). If the ISP figures out what you are doing and it violates their TOS they could block your access entirely.
