I just installed a newer version of win2k pro. Everythign was going fine untill I installed SP2. the installation went ok, but trying to restart, in the middle of the "Windows 2000 Proffesinal" white, blue, and red screen, I get this blue SOD (screen of death)!!!! INAccESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE was the name of it, and it told me that I should uninstall any new HD's or HD controllers. It also warned about vireses. What am I supposed to do? Why on earth did this happen right after installing Service pack 2? I can now only start in safe mode. Not able to start in safe mode with networking, Enable VGA, or normal. I haven't tried the other options yet. I tried making switching my HD to "auto" detect with jumpers, but same error. What surprises me is that I'm able to start up in safe mode at all. That obviously means that it has access to the HD, or else where would the startup screens come from? I'm running 156mb RAM, Radeon 64mb DDR vivo, 30gig maxtor 7200 RPM, 1.2 gighrtz Tbird. The HD is detected in first booting screen.

P.S. ok, so I had to start up in 'enable VGA' mode after installing drivers for the RADEON, BEFORE the above occured. I don't see how the two connect at all, or if they do. Any help?

Uninstall SP2 (in safe mode). Boot normally and Update the drivers for the ATI card. Reboot. Then install SP2. You should not get the BSOD again. (In most cases anyway) James Collins

Ok, I got it fixed!! (well, no SP2) I simply uninstalled SP2, reinsalled the drivers for my vid card ,and it works fine now. I don't know if I want to take the chance of sp2. :) Anybody think that its worth it?
