INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE

I have tried reinstalling a win98 pc with w2k pro. When it goes to start up i get error 0x00000007B ..... INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

From what i have read it is because of an incompatiable hard disk controller. Does this mean that I can obtain an updated driver or does the hardware need to be replaced?

If i can update the driver, how can i do this seeing that my pc will not boot.

Can startup using a boot disk and copy driver into the correct folder or am totally clutching at straws?


Any help would be appreciated.
