I cannot install or view fonts in 95, start -> control Panel -> fonts -> double click on any font yields disk activity but no samples. Office 97 when running Word, cannot load Tahoma font (different problem), reinstall of office 97, installs font but cannot view, nor does it load when entering Word.

Installed turbo tax 99, install finished, when starting program reports some fonts not installed etc. etc. etc.
reinstalled twice more with same result. no fonts added

attempting to install fonts from another source yeids a corrupt font message when I know the font is fine.

there were ~750 fonts on the system which I pared down to 625 system is a P-233 with 32Mb RAM and 2.5Gb free disk space

what's the deal ?
I'd pare it down to about 300. You probably have a lot of duplicates. What I did was make another folder called FontsMore and moved a bunch I rarely use to it. Then, try running a regcleaner to cleanup the fonts in the registry. What was the other source? Have you tried reinstalling directly from the Fonts folder in Windows? Click on Fonts folder, hit File-Install fonts.

Ahhh! An old 3x user. The system will run faster, better and with fewer problems if you reduce the number of available fonts. Good tip!
yup thanks, paring the fonts to about 300 worked, machine runs better. I put the blame solely on my wife and her Corel Draw. I thought it was the number of fonts but I wasn' sure how low to go.
