I`m interested in the way that MySQL implements the DDL (Data Definition Languaje), DML (Data Manipulation Languaje) and SQL (Structured Query Languaje). Is the implementations of this languajes as the same way as Acces, Oracle or Informix do them?

well i'm not much into the theory of databases, but as i remember sql is both ddl and dml as it implements commands for defining objects (create) and manipulating data (select)

there are some features of sql missing in mysql (don't know how's in the version 4 though)

I'm not sure I understand the question, or even the purpose of the question. I don't understand the comparison to Access at all. If you are asking whether MySQL has the same SQL standards as Oracle, or the other large DBMS's then no. They are very different. MySQL uses a fairly small subset of SQL-92, but adds some proprietary changes of it's own. They claim that by version 5 of MySQL it will be "mostly" SQL-92 compliant, but they are still far from it for now. And SQL-92 is not even the true standard any more. Most of SQL-99 has been implemented by the large DBMS vendors, and even to certain extent by PostgreSQL, which is often considered to be the open source competitor to MySQL. In fact, version 7.3 of PostgreSQL, coming soon, will have full Schema support, which hasn't even been mentioned in the MySQL feature planning list. -------------------------------------------

"Now, this might cause some discomfort..."
