We have a couple of users who consistently show up in NT 4.0 server manager as having dozens of files open, so that others can't edit them. In reality, the files are not open, nor have they opened them any time in the recent past. Why do they show up as "in-use" when they are not in-use, and how to prevent this?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Are they office files? Word, excel, etc? I know that it's possible in excel to keep a log of all the people who have opened and closed a worksheet. Maybe if you set up this kind of auditing and then you can see if people are opning and closing the files properly.

Hope this helps,
Tom
