I am looking for some sort of IN USE indicator that i can use with 2420 phones... Some red light I can mount on my monitor that will illuminate when i am on the phone.

We work in a trade floor type environment and it would be very helpful to easily see who is on the phone.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Use Phone manager Pro then on your monitor you can see who is on the phone.

i know that is an option but we want to use some sort of external indicator so its visible by anyone in the room, even if just walking around.

i know it's a fairly odd request.

thanks

We have a client who needed this so they projected the information from the CCV application onto the wall another smaller site set up a 17inch flat monitor with PC wallboard.

I like the projector with CCV the best

Nice one, i would project Phone manager pro its cheaper but if your running CCC than you can do CCV.

I sympathise with the problem. Many people in my office area use headsets and keep the headsets on between calls. Forever trying to work out if the person I want to talk to if actual on a call or between calls (and they sit with their backs to the corridor so no, I can't see their lips moving).

I've seen a option in another thread that may be usefull.

Create two shortcodes:

SC = *90
TN = U"; Msgs=0"
FT = Display Msg

SC = *90
TN = U"; Msgs=1"
FT = Display Msg

This can be programmed under a key with the label "Light on" or "Light Off".
Now you need some harware adjustments to your phone, take out the LED on top of your extension and extend the wires so you can put it on top of your monitor.
When on a call press Hold, Press Light On and press key appearance key b to get back to your call.
After completing the cal press Light off.

Everyone can see your on a call. It is not the easiest way but it is a start.

Looked at the headset link jml provided. Nice to know at least one manufacturer doesn't think we're mad wanting a visual in-use indicator. Would stop me try to talk to the guy who's sitting quietly in a conference call with the Director. [but secretly I still think is should be a big 100W lightbulb on top of thier head - hehe]
