I would like a control in my data entry form to check for duplicate values in it's bound table. If there is a duplicate value, I would like to prompt with a msg and return focus to that control, else continue to next control.

Does anybody have any code that can help me achieve this!

Thanks B-)

do you want to not allow duplicate values in the bound table? if so you can set the index in the table to be No Duplicates and it won't allow them automatically.

I do want to prevent duplicates, and have already set No Duplcates.

But I also want to intercept before I recieve the obscure error message that access throws at you.

If I can check for duplicate values on the before_update event then I believe I can avoid this message.

Any more thoughts????

That's just what I needed! Thanks.... B-)
