I am reinstalling Win95 and I seem to have a number of missing files (DLL's, vxd's...etc.)

These are I believe due to the fact that since getting my original machine...I added a network card so that I can have ADSL access to the Internet.

So far I have been able to locate most of the required files....but I cannot seem to find any reference to this file

IMSCRIPT.EXE

Can I skip this file? What does it do??

hmmmm....this is frustrating....I didn't have to go through this before when I added the Network card....the card was found and I ran the software for the 3Comm ethernet modem then the software for the ADSL provider....

Perhaps I should do this again with the card removed and add it back when I have the computer up and running on Win95

Comments?

I stripped out the network card and disengaged the printer

The install is slightly different in that it concentrates a bit on the other hardware...and leaves off the network card...It is still looking for some dll's that are not apparently in the Cab files on the installation disk...

eg. DMCOLOR.DLL

which is different from last time...

I used a start-up disk for Win-98 as suggested so that I would have CD rom support in Dos....maybe that is part of the problem.

Trying to remember what I did 10 years ago is frustrating... :-(

imscript.exe is not on the Win 98 installation CD, and there's not much regarding it on Google either.
You may be able to get along without it.

When formatting and doing a 'clean' windows reinstall, it's always best to install just the bare minimum hardware devices needed to get Windows installed, and then install the remaining devices one at a time.

yes...I have found that out...removing my network card has helped alot.

also removing my printer helped too...adding them afterward was easier...I must say that this is a pain-in-the-a@! but the result has quite good though trying to remember what I did 10 years ago when I first got this machine is frustrating. The computer is much smoother now, taking 1/2 the time to boot up and shut down and my monitor doesn't "snap" anymore.

I still haven't got it hooked to my ADSL connection yet but that is next.

All those bad dll calls seem to be a result of having my nework card up/connected. Obvious now....
