Hi,
I have a finely detailed diagram in PDF format. I have created a pic box in a Quark 4 doc and 'Got Picture'. However I have lost a lot of the diagram detail and the text is very fuzzy. I printed it out to make sure it wasnt the preview -it wasnt! Any ideas anyone?

Thanks very much
Stephanie

Are you printing it on a non-postscript printer? If so, Quark will only print the preview image you see on screen. Try exporting the Quark document as a PDF to see if the detail is still there. You might have to print from Acrobat if you're printing it yourself, but there shouldn't be any problem sending the Quark document to a commercial printer. They output postscript all the time.

Thanks - tried your suggestion, Yes I am using a non-postscript printer - because of this Quark won't let me export as a PDF!

Thanks Blueark - I got a pdf by printing to Distiller, the diagram looks fine!

Thanks again
Stephanie

Stephanie,
If your final output is to "print", you may lose much of that detail that you are hoping to hold. Contact your Printer and see what their prepress specifications are on rule weight. If they are not able to hold your existing lines you may possibly make the adjustments through PitStop (i.e. increasing the weight of your lines in the PDF) and then placing in your qxd doc.

Good Luck!
