I am inserting an object, a WordPerfect file, into PM. This file is 7 pages long. I have autoflow on and have tried with 1 page then 7 pages in the PM document. No matter what, this file only shows up as a one page document in PageMaker. What am I doing wrong? I want to link these two files, WP & PM, so that when the WP file is updated the PM file is auto updated simultaneously.

You can not have an object flow over different pages.
It allways will stay an object let's say like a tiff from Photoshop.

If you wan't to have a text flow over different pages you must have a text-file.

And text-files are not automatically updated in Pagemaker.

I don't know why you wan't to have the WordPerfect file and the Pagemaker file Updating eachother.

If there are a lot of updates of text in the WP file use WP for customizing your text, If there are images included and they change a lot use PM to automatically update the images.

Hope this helps

We have a manual in different files in WordPerfect. We want to put this as one file on our web site. We were doing this in PageMaker instead of as an HTML doc, because it looked better and printed nicer. Do you have any suggestions or a better way?

For as far as I know the HTML code generated by pagemaker stinks. So pagemaker is not the best way to create a file for publishing on the net.

If the manual is only to be an extra for the reader, it is better to make it available in a PDF format. This is a format that almost alle surfers can read. You can even include a downloadable version of Acrobat for those who don't have Acrobat already installed.

You can make your layout in Pagemaker, and create a pdf file with distiller (see some threads in this forum).

This file can be downloaded by the client as well as a PC afficionado or a Mac-addict.

This way you can always update the PDF file if new additions or other specifications or needed.

Hope this helps you

dd: you CAN place a text file with autoflow for several pages.
Please refer to the User´s Guide. I am not able to describe
the process here, but it is possible.
PM exports very badly to HTML. As recommended above:
Either direct HTML code, or a tool or Export PM to PDF, this
works pretty good. ---G.Hoffmann
