I don't have an overabundance of experience with Quark, so I apologize in advance if this is a "simple" question.
Often (but not all the time) when I import an .eps picture, I do not see the image itself, but instead a grey box "Postscript Picture" preceding the filename. Is there a setting that I need to change in order to view a more accurate representation of the graphic? I'm using PC-based quark and am sharing many files with a MAC user (not sure if this has an effect on my problem).

I don't think this is a Quark problem. It may have to do with the way the .eps file is saved. There usually is an option to save the eps with an 8-bit preview so when it is imported you can see what it looks like. You could try to open that eps in Photoshop and re-save it.

When you saved the EPS file in an Image editing application, you did not include a preview with the file. Hence, while saving the file click to save it with a preview in TIFF or other choices. If you forget to do this step, you will get a gray matter with the exact description you specified...
