I have an NPV spreadsheet where the user fills out financial information associated with a Unique Project ID.

Now I need to get the data into Access by providing an uplink button on the Excel spreadsheet. I can go in and convert the excel spreadsheet to an access table, but how can I enable the user to do this by clicking a button in excel?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
Karla

I would say that it will be easier to set up Access to import from Excel. You can do this in code or by using a macro. Access makes either method very easy.

I tend to do a couple of manual imports to sort out problems. Access often sets up what are text fields as numeric causing later imports to fail. Once you have done an import you can sort out the Access table. Text fields are set at 255 characters which can be changed to a more realistic number and datatypes changed.

If you have to clear the previous load then I would use a delete query. If this is a regular procedure with a lot of data then you may have to compact your database frequently. Depending on versions you may find that you have to open the Spreadsheet during the import to ensure all records are imported.

If you have more detailed questions please make a posting. Sandy
