I am having a problem importing AVI files. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for me changing any setting or downloading any plugins that would help me. I need this stuff ASAP. Or maybe there is something wrong with my CODEC? If so, how can I go about changing that? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Details are needed. What codecs are the videos you're trying to import in? What's the exact problem/error message you're getting? What's the end goal? Sometimes there are other ways. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It keeps saying that the compression format is unsupported. I am trying to import an AVI file I downloaded into a current project I have open. It opens another one of my AVI files, but I think thats because it is a directx codec file, and the others arent. When I go to properties>>summary, it doesnt have anything that says DirectX Codec. Any ideas?

Umm...I didnt mean DirectX...I meant DivX. Sorry about that.

When you go properties >> summary, where are you doing that? In premiere or windows media player? You can use another program like VirtualDub to tell you file information (it also does many other things). In Premiere, try under the file menu, "Get Propertiese For" >> "File..." and select whichever files you're trying to import. I don't have any videos on my computer that in are codecs I don't have, so I'm not sure about your specific error, but you can add that to the list of things to try.

Another program that can give you file information and nothing else, even if the codecs are not installed, is GSpot, available at > download > avi editing tools, or directly here:
Hope this helps a little, and sorry for the delay. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
