When I try to import data from an xls 2000 file using the import wizard and on clicking the finish button I have the error message N°1748 that says I have to run the '30update.prg' file.
I can't find this file anywhere !!
So if someone can help me to resolve this problem because I have big quantity of data that I want to import.
I'm not sure about this but I think that the problem is that there isn't xl8 type in the wizard and my file is an excel 2000 one.(I'm using VFP 6 SP5).
Thanks in advance.

Shevshenko,

Yes, you should be able to import from XLS 8 into VFP 6. I have done it myself, although not with the import wizard.

Why don't you try importing it with the IMPORT command. That will at least tell you if the problem is with the wizard or the Excel file.

When I tried to do it with the import command first I have to create a database to include the table in it (I want it in an independent table)and after doing this it gives me a table with fields named 'A' 'B' 'C' 'D' .....etc
So I must change the label of all the fields (I have 55 fields in the sheet) and the type of fields from caracter to date or numeric.

See for an explanation on this meanless message. As far as I know '30update.prg' never existed with a production install!

You'll get a 1748 error if the format of the file is unknown to VFP. VFP 6.0 only knows up to XL8 - Excel 97! While it can read some new versions of Excel SS's it all depends on what features were used and how it was saved. Have your user save it as an "Excel 97-2002 & 5.0/95 Workbook" then your import may work.
