Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can import table files into MySQL.

The Table Files consist of a .TBL and .REC files. I can open the .REC files in Notepad, but the .TBL file has ASCII charaters.

Thanks a million....

You don't say what software package is generating these files but if you can't read them, you need to get the package to dump/export/unload into readable format file(s).

Computer Associates' Alert is generating these files. I can access them through Alert, but it has a SH"one"T interface. I am trying to get the table files imported into a MYSQL DB, which will allow me to use PHP to run queries on the data and also the info will be availiable via a web-browser.

Is it running on an IBM Mainframe? You know they use EBCDIC rather than ASCII? You can use the operating system utilities to dump an EBCDIC file into ASCII. That might do the trick.
