Import PDF in Quark 6 and lose fonts

I am using Quark 6.5 on a G5 with OS X and Acrobat 6.

Most PDFs import and print fine, but I'm having trouble with some IRS forms from the internet that lose the font Helvetica Condensed Bold when printing in Quark 6. The PDF itself prints fine. The PDF printed from Quark 4 and InDesign print fine as well. Only Quark 6.0 and 6.5 seem to have this problem.

I've looked at the PDF which is a fillable PDF. Also, when I look at the font usage, it lists Helvetica Condensed Bold and shows that its "Actual Font" is Adobe Sans MM. There is no security on the document. It is one page. Helvetica Condensed Bold is open in Suitcase X1.

Is this a problem with the PDF or Quark 6? And what can be done? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks for your help!

I had a similiar problem - - I think with the same font. I don't know if the font was corrupt but the only way I could get the job to work was to hop on a G4 and use and old version of suitcase. I have the same problems with certain Myriad font families also-- cannot get them to work on the G5 with new suitcase.

You might try turning off Suitcase and seeing if the font becomes available to Q6. Somebody in earlier posts had a problem with fonts disappearing in Suitcase on OSX.

Could the font be located in a folder that Q6/suitcase isn't looking at. If it's working on Q4, it must be in the System Folder/Fonts (classic). Is Q6 or Q6/Suitcase accessing that folder or just accessing Library/Fonts or a special folder?

Forgot something.

You might try repairing permissions. Understnad that Q6.5 changes all permissions in the applications folder. Assume this could have some negative effects.
