Can i run multiple table imports on a database.
I understand it might be a bit slower but is it possible.
What problems if any might i encounter and if any what solutions!

cheers

Smac,

I presume your REAL question is, "Can i run multiple DIFFERENT table imports on a database SIMULTANEOUSLY?" Right?

You certainly may. When migrating database objects from an Oracle 8i database to a 9i database, I choose to do so by running the 8i exports for multiple schemas simultaneously, then running their imports into 9i simultaneously. I have found that although there is a performance hit and the elapsed time it takes for any given schema import is noticably longer, the elapsed time it takes to import all schemas is noticably shorter that if I ran the imports serially instead of in parallel.

If I misunderstood your question, please set me straight.

Sorry for the confusion, but its the same schema and i require to do 2 imports of different tables to this schema.
I have exported 2 large tables as i dump and the rest of the tables to a separate dump.
I now want to import back put run them together.

Hope this makes sense.
cheers

Smac,

Same rules apply. Go for it. We should print a bumper sticker that says, "Real Men Import in Parallel".

The only problem I was worried about earlier is if (for some bizarre reason) you meant, "Can i run multiple table imports (of the same table) on a database." That would be a mess.

Cheers,

Dave
