implementing threads in a client/server environmnet

I need to use threads to allow concurrent usage of clients and servers such that the clients and servers can perform their own calculations without being disturbed by the user logs or interfaces.
 
There are entire books written on this stuff. Please be a little more specific.

If you desire concurrency, threads are the way to go. Some can block on I/O, others can do work, use synchronization so you don't mess up your data.
