We now use ris for our imaging needs. We are thinking about going to norton ghost corporate or drive image. Which one is the best ghost or drive image. Also what are the differences between regular norton ghost and norton ghost corporate edition.

I personally love Norton Ghost.

You will want to use the Corporate Version if you plan to image multiple machines at a time. It allows for multicast that won't completely bog down your network. this feature is especially helpful when you get a bunch of new PCs in and have to set them all up.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Yes I would like to use the product for setting up multiple systems. I would also like to ask about the regular version of norton ghost. I do a little contract work on the side and I have some offices that onlt have 10 or 20 computers. I've noticed that I can get the regular norton ghost in a small business package for this small setups. I would like to know can one use the regualr norton ghost to put images on multiple systems at the same time. I know that you want have the multicast features of the corporate version but will it work.

The regular version is different int hat you don't get the Ghost Server. So by the way you are asking yoru question I will say no, you can't do what you are asking.

You can of course use Ghost to pull down any image you might have on a network share, but you won't get the ability to pull down multiple copies at once like you do with the corporate version. Standard is more for one to one copies.

Thanks for the info mark I guess I'll have to get corporate than. Someone was telling me that you can take a regular version of powerquest drive image and pull down multiple copies do you know if thats true. Also I was reading that ghosting is hardware specific is there any way to run one image on different types of hardware. The norton manual metioned a something about sysprep so is it possible to use one image on multiple systems after implementing sysprep?

Sorry I can't address powerquest. Yes you can use SYSPREP for multiple hardware profiles. Check the MS web site. They have lots of info on it.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.
