You can go here, and this will guide you through the process and hopefully make it easy for you.
It all depends on what you want your site to look like. But take into account, *images will take a little longer to download, *some search engines can't follow image maps and although rare *some people have graphics turned off. As a designer I use image maps/rollovers a lot, but also have text links for speed of navigation and so the search engine robots can go through the whole site. Hope this is of some help.
