Image Mapping/hotspots

I am doing a website that uses map imageing/hotspots in the background for links on the sides. I can't figure out in Dreamweaver how to make hotspots on my background.

(NOTE: my background image HAS to be a background image so that I can put text in the middle of it)

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out. I have Dreamweaver MX the trial version.

I don't think that you can assign image map to background image... But if you want to put some text in front why not to make this text hyperlinks? Good Luck!
