I am creating a tax input form and rather than recreate the form by hand, I'm simply taking a PDF document(from the IRS); using adobe's PDF professional's snapshot tool to select a page and save an image onto Window's clipboard; then pasting the image onto an Access form.

The form looks great and works fine; however, the size of my database increases from 8M to 10M for each image I post (and I have many, many forms). I copied the same clipboard image into a word document and its size only increased by 200K.

What is Access doing and how do I keep it from taking so much room?

Thanks for any help!

Access does not handle objects very well -- often called "bloat". Better to store the object externally and link to it using hyper links.

You can "Compact and Repiar" ("Tools" -> "Database utilities") to recover some space, but the real problem is pasting the graphical impage in the the Access database.

Thanks for the help. I switched to externally link the images and it is so much better (size wise).
